Festive winter snowperson

When the winter evenings grow darker, and the temperatures start to drop, those of us in cooler climes can begin to think of the coming snow and maybe even building snow people. And, of course, they’re just the sort of thing that make festive decorations complete. So I decided to make a sculpted snow-person (a snowman, snowwoman, or snow-whatever-your-chosen-gender) that can be lit with an LED tealight candle. And I decided I wanted it to not require any support material when 3D printing, and for it to be usable as a simple gift box too. Here’s a picture of how it turned out.

Quick summary of this 3D creation
Overview: A festive winter snow-person 3D sculpt.
Software used: Nomad SculptMeshmixerBlender.
Intended use: 3D printing with fused-filament (no supports needed) or resin printers.
Download: Thingiverse pageMyMiniFactory page.

I made the basic shape of the snow-person using the excellent Nomad Sculpt app on my Android tablet, starting with some simple spheres and cylinders. I tried to sculpt the shape with making an illuminated decoration in mind, so it may look a bit odd under normal lighting (although, I think, still quite cute). After remeshing in Meshmixer on a PC, I used Blender to create three parts: a head, a body, and a plug that can be used to close the tealight candle (LED, not a flame, to prevent starting fires!) hole when using the snow-person as a box with removable head. You can see the three parts in the photo below.
